On May 12, 2009, Wayne County Bank in conjunction with Wayne County High School hosted the third annual Academic Banquet for students with outstanding academic excellence at the WCHS cafeteria. There were over 100 students invited to the “Wheel of Fortune” themed banquet, all of whom had to meet the requirements of maintaining a 3.0 or above average as well as no unexcused absences, and a total of 71 attended.

The evening began with a delicious meal catered by Creecy’s Country Cooking.  After dinner, a presentation of awards was given out from various teachers as well as some colleges.

 The game began as each student opened an envelope containing various amounts of money ranging from $1 to $20. Students were then involved in a game of “Wheel of Fortune” with their host for the evening, Mrs. Tina Haggard.  Some lucky students spun the wheel to win large amounts of cash or could choose to pick a letter and chance their money to win prizes such as gas cards, t-shirts, coolers, or bigger money amounts up to $100.  

The night was a great success for all involved. Everyone that attended the banquet received prizes and goodies provided by Wayne County Bank as well as t-shirts and mousepads from Columbia State.
